Some people can safely use whitening toothpastes for the results they want, others need professional whitening systems that they use at home or that are performed in the dental chair.
I know what professional whitening systems are capable of because I’ve had many patients go through the process with great results. However, if you simply do a little bit more research on how sodium chlorite actually works as a bleaching agent, it has to be manufactured at a certain pH (between 2-3) and at a certain concentration for it to be effective. Under these conditions, the gel would be highly unsafe to be used in the mouth and certainly damaging to your teeth! The mouthpiece was comfortable enough though and the LED light that attaches to it has a nifty feature where it automatically turns off after ten minutes, indicating that the treatment is complete. Though the mouthpiece doesn’t fit, I actually didn’t taste much gel at all which was a nice surprise. A first-time buyer said they couldn’t be happier with their experience. In their HiSmile review, they said the kit arrived fast, was very easy to use, and they noticed significantly whiter teeth after just one use. The Verdict:
A study by Hismile researchers found that PAP+ was superior to hydrogen peroxide in whitening teeth in terms of color change as well as enamel safety. Based on my experience, I'm unsure if the light sped up the treatment time. However, my teeth were definitely more vibrant after just one session with the light. Sensitivity In a teeth whitening review of HiSmile ingredients, they all appear to be fairly benign. They include: Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chlorite, Citric Acid, Aloe Leaf Juice, Pomegranate Seed Extract, Chamomile Flower Extract, Glycerol, Propylene Glycol, Deionized water, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, and Menthol.
