About this deal

Manon's first kill was a young Crochan whose red cape she took as a trophy. She wore this cape, which made her stand out from the rest because no other would risk enraging the Matron by wearing the cloak of their enemy. Manon also forms a relationship with Dorian Havilliard in Queen of Shadows and throughout Kingdom of Ash which strengthens her emotions and makes her see more love in the world.

Chaol and Aedion meet, but this time in Celaena’s apartment that she left to Chaol, the one she bought when she escaped Arobynn Hamel. Aedion tells him about the day magic disappeared in Terrasen, how there were two waves, one from the west and one from the south-west. Rowan and Aelin fight a lot during the first training sessions due to her inability to shift into her Fae form, leading to Rowan saying hurtful things. Celaena goes off to work in the kitchens, and she meets Emrys and Luca, the old cook and his help. She calls herself Elentiya (sobs). She then finds out how the Fae look down on demi Fae and how the latter are not allowed to enter Doranelle, ever.It was the least she could do. For Nehemia—for . . . a lot of other people. There was nothing left in her, not really. Only ash and an abyss and the unbreakable vow she’d carved into her flesh, to the friend who had seen her for what she truly was. Some unknown amount of time later, Manon wakes up chained to a bed in a ship cabin. She sees Aelin who tells her that Abraxos had taken her here. Aelin and Rowan have healed her wounds and removed shards of iron from them. As she’s healing, Dorian enters her cabin and Manon asks about Elide and the Thirteen, but Dorian knows nothing. Manon continues to recover but struggles with feelings of depression at the loss of her Thirteen and with her exile from the Ironteeth. In an effort to try and pull her from the depression, Dorian flirts with her and tempts her, and then leaves, enraging her. Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but little did he know, she had other plans. If she can overcome her troubles and weakness she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy. Upon returning to the ships with the witch mirror, Manon is furious to discover that Ansel of Briarcliff, also known as the Queen of the Wastes, is waiting for them after being summoned to help fight in the war by Aelin. Manon informs Aelin that Ansel does not speak for the Wastes, she does, as the Wastes are also the Witch Kingdom.

Rowan is devoted by a blood oath to Aelin and will defend her at any cost. He is incredibly loyal and supportive of her choices. After Maeve disappears with Aelin, Manon and Elide explain what happened to everyone else. Manon apologizes for not saving Aelin but reveals that Aelin had given her the Wyrdkeys to keep them away from Maeve. But she hadn’t lingered merely from paranoia. No—Nehemia would have remained to ensure they were safe. Realizing that, Celaena had wound up on the road to the capital as soon as she was certain the women were all right. Learning how to infiltrate the castle was merely something to occupy her time while she decided how to execute the first steps of her plan. While she tried to stop thinking about Nehemia. Like Cinderella's love story and the action and competition of The Hunger Games, handsome princes, ball gowns and deathly masquerade balls? Then this is the book for you! This book is going to be HUGE! Dark ReadersThey still win the Games, and Manon is proclaimed Wing Leader. Her grandmother is furious at her for saving Petrah, and as punishment, she makes her kill a Crochan witch that they have been holding captive. The Crochan witch, with her blood red cloak, tells Manon that she pities her, and that she is not born but made a monster. Manon kills her, because of her grandmother, but she regrets it. Celaena swigged from the jug of wine—or tried to. It was empty, which she supposed was a blessing, because gods her head was spinning. She needed water, and more teggya. And perhaps something for the gloriously painful split lip and scraped cheekbone she’d earned last night in one of the city’s tabernas. Chaol and Aedion meet in secret, but Dorian finds them, and hears them talking about Celaena/Aelin. He didn’t know this. Chaol explains that he is trying to keep Dorian safe, but Dorian’s like I hate you bro. Aedion then decides to raise a court for his precious Aelin and I cry. They become close friends, although Rowan denies it. Soon, they start to be able to convey their thoughts to each other with just their facial expressions, often having both playful and complex conversations. They begin to work flawlessly as a team. Meanwhile, Aelin starts to realize just how trapped Rowan is by his blood oath to Maeve, which leads to her beginning to truly hate her aunt, and she realizes that she does not want to return to Adarlan without Rowan. After attending a dinner Arobynn Hamel hosts, Aelin is on the roof of the building. At one point, when Aelin touches his face, he seems to reciprocate her feelings for him for the first time, but he snaps at her, telling her not to touch him like that, despite his feelings towards her. She begins to consider that while he may long for her, he may hate himself for it and not choose to pursue it.

During the War Games, in which each witch clan has to protect their own egg and steal the others, asshole Iskra lets her wyvern kill the wyvern of Petrah, the Bluebloods heir. The wyvern dies, but Manon and Abraxos manage to save Petrah. Manon knows she was born without a heart and soul, but she saw how Petrah’s wyvern tried to save her, and so she helped. Celaena is redoing Rowan’s tattoo, since she burned parts of it. He tells him about his parents, who died, and she tells him about hers, and about Aedion. She also tells him that she doesn’t want her crown because of the weight of it, and because she doesn’t think she is worthy. Celaena and Rowan are now officially friends. Then Chaol decides to do something, and he tells the king he is quitting, and that he will not go to Anielle, because he will only serve Dorian. The king has his men shoot him, but that is Dorian’s breaking point, the line he will not cross, and Dorian’s magic erupts. Dorian tells Chaol to flee, and he does, but not before telling him he loves him, and I weep. There is no more animosity between them, and they gain a sort of frenemy status from that point on. They start trading more and more intimate secrets, telling each other things about themselves and their pasts that they have never told anyone else. During this process, they start to understand more and more that their initial impressions of each other were wrong and that they are more kindred spirits than anything else.
